Backpacks of Hope: Precision Today Partners with Salvadores Sin Fronteras

Change doesn’t always start with big organizations or billion-dollar campaigns. Sometimes it starts with a neighbor, an idea, and a backpack. Right here in the Chicagoland community, Amalia Gonzalez has built Salvadores Sin Fronteras into a movement that stretches across borders. And this year, Precision Today was honored to support her mission once again with a $1,000 donation and eight backpacks for students in Guerrero, Mexico.

A Local Mission with Global Impact

Salvadores Sin Fronteras–translated as Saviors Without Borders–is rooted in the belief that every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and grow. Founded and led by Amalia, an early childhood educator in Lake County, Illinois, the initiative focuses on providing school supplies to students in Guerrero, a region where many families struggle to access even the most basic tools of education.

What makes this work extraordinary is its simplicity. Each year, Amalia and her team of 19 volunteers collect backpacks, books, and supplies that are shipped directly to children who need them most. These donations do more than fill schoolbags–they create opportunity, dignity, and hope.

Celebrating Community and Culture

This year, our team had the privilege of attending the annual Salvadores Sin Fronteras fundraiser, where we presented our donation in person. The evening was alive with music, laughter, and a strong sense of community. Guests enjoyed delicious food, raffles, and lively performances from local dancers that blended traditional and contemporary styles.

It was a celebration of culture, resilience, and collective generosity. Being in the room, surrounded by people united for one purpose, was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when community comes together.

Why It Matters

It’s easy to take education for granted, assuming that every child has a backpack, pencils, notebooks, and a safe place to learn. But in Guerrero, those items are not guaranteed. For countless children, the lack of simple school supplies becomes a barrier that keeps them from accessing education altogether.

That’s why Amalia’s work matters so much. Our $1,000 donation will help cover the cost of shipping these much-needed supplies to Guerrero while also funding the purchase of additional backpacks and materials. In the hands of a child, these tools aren’t just supplies, they’re a gateway to possibility.
